WILGERBOSDRIFT TOP AUGUST TWO YEAR OLD SALE

Wilgerbosdrift enjoyed tremendous success at last week’s August Two Year Old Sale, ending the two day auction as Leading Vendors by Aggregate.
The farm had 19 of their 20 two-year-olds on offer gross R6.175 million, with Wilgerbosdrift’s 19 lots to sell averaging R325 000 overall.

Wilgerbosdrift also consigned the top lot at this year’s August Two Year Old Sale, selling Herero Secret (Lot 224) for R1 200 000.
Purchased by Form Bloodstock, Herero Secret is a colt by the Wilgerbosdrift bred champion Dynasty and he is a full-brother to last season’s brilliant G2 Zulu Kingdom Explorer Golden Slipper heroine Desert Miracle.

The pair were produced by Oasis Dream’s top-class daughter Welwitschia, who won all of the G2 Diadem Stakes, G2 Camellia Stakes and G3 Joburg Spring F&M Challenge and finished second in three G1 races.

Wilgerbosdrift also sold the second top priced colt at the August Sale, with the farm’s Pomodoro colt River Romeo (Lot 242) knocked down to Mano Pandaram for R800 000. Out of Tiger Ridge’s G3 Acacia Handicap winning daughter Amur Affair, River Romeo’s granddam Weston Fair was a twice winning own sister to G1 Empress Club Stakes winner Fair Maiden, herself the dam of talented racemare Lady Of Steel.

Wilgerbosdrift would like to thank all the buyers and underbidders at the August Sale, and wish them all the best with their purchases going forward.
