Jockey Club Stakes win for Flower Alley filly

Wilgerbosdrift’s G1 winning stallion Flower Alley looks to have a well above average daughter on his hands in the form of Santa Therese.
The latter made it six wins in a row when scoring a courageous win in Friday’s Listed Jockey Club Stakes (2000m), run at Fairview.

Sent off a well backed favourite for Friday’s race, four-year-old Santa Therese came with a sustained late run, under Grant Van Niekerk, to claim the third Listed win of her career by a neck.

Trained by Alan Greeff, the Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein bred filly has now won seven of just nine starts, with Santa Therese having also claimed both the Listed East Cape Paddock Stakes and Listed Breeders Guineas last season.

Out of the Tiger Ridge mare Santa Clarita, Santa Therese was a R160 000 buy from the 2019 National Yearling Sale.

She is one of more than 50 black type horses for Flower Alley, whose progeny have earned over $43 million in prize money.

Other notable daughters of Flower Alley include G1 Ashland Stakes queen Lilacs And Lace, champion My Wandy’s Girl, and top-class local galloper Princess Calla.
