Exciting young stallion Fire Away sports some excellent statistics. His first crop has yielded 35 runners, of which 22 have won, and four are stakes winners.
A further three horses in Fire Away’s first crop have been stakes placed.
Fire Away’s first crop is headed by graded stakes winners Egyptian Mau (G3 HSH Princess Charlene Starling Stakes) and My Golly Molly (G3 World Sports Betting Langerman), East Cape star Luna Halo, and Listed TAB Spook Express Stakes winner Explosive Bond.
His first-crop sons My Golly Molly and Zil Moris finished first and third respectively in the G3 Langerman.
Fire Away’s second crop, current two-year-olds, include 20 runners of whom seven have won. This crop is headed by G2 TAB SA Nursery winner Fire Attack. The latter’s Nursery win received a notable boost when fourth place finisher Proceed came out to win the G1 Gold Medallion.
With a number of promising but lightly raced runners featuring in this crop, this crop looks set for better results still.
However, it is Fire Away’s statistics for the current season which make for truly impressive reading. For active stallions with 50 or more runners in 2023-2024, Fire Away ranks as the leading sire by stakes winners to runners. His total of 6.9 % stakes winners to runners ranks higher than such star stallions as Vercingetorix (5.7%), Rafeef (5.7) and reigning champion sire Gimmethegreenlight (4.8).
Fire Away appears to be emulating his own sire War Front, who also sports some eye catching statistics. Not only is War Front the sire of more than 115 stakes winners (he is also sire of more than 80 black type placed horses), but the son of Danzig is coming up with 11% stakes winners to foals.
At the time of writing, War Front had been responsible for 24 G1 winners and his offspring have earned more than $131 000 000 in stakes.
