Wilgerbosdrift’s exciting young stallion Buffalo Bill Cody made news on the first day of the 2024 August Two Year Old Sale, which took place at at the TBA Complex on Thursday.
Buffalo Bill Cody colt Bangladesh (Lot 169) was knocked down to Sid Moodley for R1 300 000, making the colt the second top lot sold on Thursday.
Consigned to the sale by Wilgerbosdrift, Bangladesh is out of the four time winning Tiger Ridge mare Indira. The latter has produced five winners, from five runners, to date, including the graded stakes winners Maharanee and Marigold Hotel.
Bangladesh is bred on the same Buffalo Bill Cody/Tiger Ridge cross as last season’s Listed HKJC World Pool Event 6 April Storm Bird Stakes winner Pistol Pete.
A son of legendary Australian sire Redoute’s Choice, Buffalo Bill Cody made an eye catching start with his first runners last season. Five of Buffalo Bill Cody’s first 11 starters were winners. They included the impressive Pistol Pete and Buffalo Storm Cody, who ran third, to subsequent Equus Champion Proceed, in the G3 TAB Protea Stakes.
Buffalo Bill Cody was the second Leading First Crop Sire in South Africa for 2023-2024.
