Hawwaam made a big impression at last week’s August Two Year Old Sale. The champion son of six times South African champion sire Silvano ended the two day auction as fifth Leading Sire by Aggregate, with Hawwaam’s 12 lots on offer all selling for a total of R5 590 000.
Hawwaam’s first crop two-year-olds averaged an impressive R465 833 at the August Sale. His top lot sold was Witch Hazel (Lot 132), a colt knocked down to Ebrahim Khan for R1 200 000.
Consigned to the sale by Wilgerbosdrift, Witch Hazel is the third foal for the three time winning Captain Al mare Fragrant Miss, also dam of the useful Sunset Riot.
Other members of Hawwaam’s first crop made R1 000 000, R800 000 and R750 000 at the August Two Year Old Sale, and the Equus Champion can hardly have made a better start to his commercial stud career.
The former Equus Champion had also enjoyed good success at the 2024 National Yearling Sale, where Hawwaam yearlings made up to R5 000 000.
