Nine length winner for Buffalo Bill Cody

Wilgerbosdrift’s hugely exciting young stallion Buffalo Bill Cody came up with a second first-crop winner on Thursday, when his two-year-old son Buffalo Storm Cody made a brillliant winning debut at Turffontein.

Dispatched a well backed tote favourite for Thursday’s 4Racing Welcomes You Maiden Juvenile Plate (1000m), the Tony Peter trained colt was slowly away but quickly overcame that and went to the lead.

From there, it was a one horse race, with the Calvin Habib ridden Buffalo Storm Cody romped home to win as he liked by nine lengths on debut
Bred by Narrow Creek Stud, Buffalo Storm Cody is out of the Trippi mare Musical Romance.

The exciting two-year-old was a R410 000 purchase from the 2023 Cape Yearling Sale.
His sire Buffalo Bill Cody has made an exceptional start to his stud career. From just four runners thus far, the son of Redoute’s Choice has had two impressive winners headed by the unbeaten Listed HKJC World Pool Event 6 April Storm Bird Stakes winner Pistol Pete. The latter holds an entry for the G2 SA Nursery, to be run at Turffontein on April 6th.

From the same female line as top US stallion Hard Spun, among many others, Buffalo Bill Cody has a single lot on offer at the 2024 National Yearling Sale. The latter (Lot 243) is a colt out of a three time winning Silvano half-sister to graded stakes winners Magical Wonderland and Magico and this colt hails from the same female line as dual Australian G1 winner September Run among others.
