Equus glory for Halfway To Heaven

For a second year running, Wilgerbosdrift’s outstanding broodmare Halfway To Heaven was crowned Equus Broodmare Of The Year.

The daughter of Jet Master, South Africa’s Broodmare Of The Year in 2018-2019, was named Equus Broodmare Of The Year at the virtual Equus Awards ceremony which took place on Sunday evening.
Halfway To Heaven had another superb season in 2019-2020, when she was represented by three individual G1 winners and she was also responsible for the top yearling sold off the 2020 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.

Her sons Golden Ducat, Hawwaam and Rainbow Bridge continued to do their dam proud, with Golden Ducat’s 3 wins last season including both the G1 ARF Commemorative Cape Derby and G1 World Sports Betting Champions Cup, Hawwaam landing all of the G1 H F Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes, G1 World Sports Betting Premier’s Champions Challenge and G2 Premier Trophy and Rainbow Bridge landing the 2020 G1 Hollywoodbets Gold Challenge.

Halfway To Heaven also made news at this year’s National Sale, when her Silvano colt Celestial City was knocked down to Summerhill Equestrian for R7 000 000.

Winner of seven races, including both the G3 Prix du Cap and Listed Off To Stud Handicap, Halfway To Heaven was covered last season by Wilgerbosdrift’s exciting young War Front stallion Fire Away.
