Buffalo Bill Cody relative romps to Awesome Again win

Wilgerbosdrift’s well bred young stallion Buffalo Bill Cody hails from the same family as one of the best horses in North America at present in the form of Improbable.
The latter, a four-year-old colt by City Zip, made it three G1 wins in a row when he romped to a four and a half length win in the G1 Awesome Again Stakes at Santa Anita Park on Saturday.
In the process, Improbable accounted for favourite, and stablemate, Maximum Security in impressive fashion. Six lengths off the leader after a half-mile, Improbable pulled within 3 1/2 lengths after six furlongs and was in front soon after turning into the stretch. He opened up a three-length advantage with a furlong to run and continued pulling away under confident handling.

Winner of the Los Alamitos Futurity at two, Improbable has now won seven of 14 outings, with the colt having won the G1 Hollywood Gold Cup and G1 Whitney Stakes earlier this year.

Improbable, who took his earnings to $1,709,520 with his latest win, is now likely to be aimed at the G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic.

Out of the A.P. Indy mare Rare Event, Improbable’s fifth dam Luiana (also the third dam of top-class sire Hard Spun) also ranks as the fourth dam of Buffalo Bill Cody.

The latter won six of just ten starts, and he shares his multiple champion sire Redoute’s Choice with reigning Australian champion sire Snitzel.
