Wilgerbosdrift tops August Sale

Wilgerbosdrift enjoyed some tremendous results at the 2022 August Two Year Old Sale, which was held at the TBA complex in Germiston on Friday and Saturday.
Not only did Wilgerbosdrift sell the top priced two-year-old at this year’s auction, the farm also ended the August Sale as the Leading Vendors, by Aggregate.

Wilgerbosdrift sold 18 two-year-olds, from as many lots offered, for a gross total of R9.18 million.

Their Gimmethegreenlight colt Yes We Can (Lot 91) was the top lot sold off the August Sale this year, with the colt out of G3 Starling Stakes queen Sarasota knocked down to Form Bloodstock’s Jehan Malherbe for R3 800 000.
The Wilgerbosdrift consigned Yamuna (Lot 165) also proved popular with that daughter of Silvano and Trippi’s dual stakes winning daughter Agra knocked down to Zeyn Kirsten for R700 000.

The farm’s beautifully bred young sire Fire Away also enjoyed a wonderful August Two Year Old Sale, with the son of War Front’s first two-year-olds making a big impression. Fire Away’s two-year-olds made up to R600 000, with the Wilgerbosdrift consigned Rani Of Kittur knocked down to Peter Moor for that amount.

In total, Fire Away had six lots sell for a total of R1.77 million, with his two-year-olds averaging R295 000 at the August Sale.

Wilgerbosdrift would like to thank all the buyers and underbidders for their support, and wish them the best of luck with their purchases from this year’s August Two Year Old Sale.
