Flower Alley dominates Jockey Club Stakes

Fresh off supplying the first two home in the recent Listed East Cape Paddock Stakes, Wilgerbosdrift’s inform resident sire Flower Alley was at it again on Friday when his daughters ran 1-3-4 in the Listed Jockey Club Stakes at Fairview.

The 2000m contest was won by Flower Alley’s star five-year-old daughter Santa Therese, who was given a very confident ride by Richard Fourie to win the 2022 Jockey Club Stakes impressively.

Winner of the 2021 Jockey Club Stakes, Santa Therese had had to settle for second, behind her paternal half-sister Integrity, in the East Cape Paddock Stakes last time out but made amends for that defeat with a five-star performance on Friday.

The Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein bred mare came from the back of the field to mow down her rivals and score by three-parts of a length, with fellow Flower Alley daughters Flower Of Saigon and Integrity taking third and fourth spots respectively.

Trained by Alan Greeff, Santa Therese has now won 10 of just 18 starts, with the daughter of Flower Alley having now picked up four Listed races.

Out of the Tiger Ridge mare Santa Clarita, Santa Therese took her earnings to well over R500 000 with her win on Friday.

She is one of 32 stakes winners for Flower Alley, who is currently seventh on the general sires list for the current season.
