Wilgerbosdrift’s well bred young stallion Buffalo Bill Cody came up with a third first-crop winner on Tuesday when his two-year-old son Rattlesnake won at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.
Not disgraced in his only two previous starts, the Candice Bass-Robinson trained Rattlesnake was quickly away and went out to make the running early on in Tuesday’s Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Welcomes You Maiden Juvenile Plate (1000m).
Under a confident ride from Robert Khathi, Rattlesnake kicked on strongly in the closing stages before going on to win by a length and a half.
Bred by the Narrow Creek Stud, Rattlesnake is out of the More Than Ready mare Saraaba.
The colt joins Listed HKJC World Pool Event 6 April Storm Bird Stakes winner Pistol Pete and impressive debut winner Buffalo Storm Cody (third in the G3 TAB Protea Stakes) as early winners for his exciting young sire Buffalo Bill Cody.
Buffalo Bill Cody is also sire of the promising Wolf Mountain, a close up second in each of his two starts, and Wolf Mountain looks likely to provide his sire with more success in the not too distant future.
A son of legendary Australian sire Redoute’s Choice (whose sire sons also include prominent South African stallion Rafeef), Buffalo Bill Cody made his presence felt at this year’s National Yearling Sale where his only yearling on sale was knocked down to Peter Muscutt Racing for R700 000.
