Soft Falling Rain son impresses on debut

Wilgerbosdrift’s late sire Soft Falling Rain came up with an eye catching debut winner when his son Nafoorah romped home at the Vaal on Thursday afternoon.
Bred and owned by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, three-year-old Nafoorah made a great introduction to racing when scoring a facile two length win on Thursday afternoon.

Under champion apprentice Luke Ferraris, the gelded Nafoorah (8-10) drew clear to win in convincing fashion while scoring over 1200m.

Trained, like his sire by Mike de Kock, Nafoorah is out of the Commands mare Anhaar.

Nafoorah is one of several promising three-year-olds representing the sadly deceased Soft Falling Rain this season, with others including G1 Golden Horse Medallion/G3 Godolphin Barb Stakes runner up Pray For Rain and Purple Cloud -who broke his maiden by over three lengths when victorious at Durbanville on Tuesday.

South Africa’s Equus Champion 2YO Colt Of 2012, Soft Falling Rain’s first crop was headed by the graded stakes winners Montreal Mist and World Radar.
