Sixth winner for Fire Away

Wilgerbosdrift’s sensational young stallion Fire Away was the toast of Turffontein on Thursday, when progeny of Fire Away won both juvenile races on the Turffontein card.
Fire Away’s classy son Fire ‘N Flames claimed the second race at Turffontein, while Fire Away’s two-year-old daughter Egyptian Mau made a winning debut when she stormed home to win the third race on Thursday.

In the process, Egyptian Mau became the sixth winner to emerge from Fire Away’s eye catching first crop of two-year-olds.

Trained by Lucky Houdalakis, Egyptian Mau stormed home to land Thursday’s Racing240 For Racing. For You Juvenile Plate (Fillies) (1200m) by more than two lengths and she looks an exciting future prospect indeed.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Egyptian Mau is out of the Fort Wood mare Savannah Cat.

The filly was a R425 000 purchase from the 2022 National Yearling Sale.
At the time of writing, Fire Away had been responsible for more two-year-old winners in South Africa this season than the likes of Gimmethegreenlight, Rafeef, Querari, Silvano and New Predator.

Fire Away’s 11 lots on offer at this year’s National Sale include a half-sister (Lot 260) to the graded stakes winners Our Emperor and Platinum Class as well as a full-brother (Lot 319) to impressive recent debut winner Rani Of Kittur.
