Wilgerbosdrift’s well bred young stallion Fire Away has made a very bright start with his first two-year-olds this season, and the son of War Front struck yet again when his son Fire ‘N Flames won impressively at Turffontein on Thursday afternoon.
His sire’s very first winner, Fire ‘N Flames picked up his second career win when romping home over 1200m on Thursday.
Runner up in the Listed Storm Bird Stakes last time out, the Kobus Roux trained gelding showed his class when running out a cosy just over a length winner of Thursday’s TAB Telebet 0861 000 822 Juvenile Plate while relegating impressive debut winner Pure Predator into second.
Bred by Ascot Stud, Fire ‘N Flames is out of the Silvano mare Silvan Jazz.
The gelding, who has now won twice from just six starts, was a R150 000 buy from the 2022 National Yearling Sale.
Fire ‘N Flames’ G3 Dixie Stakes winning sire Fire Away is currently second on the Leading First Season Sires list and sixth on South Africa’s Leading Sires of 2YOs list.
His sire War Front is an exceptional stallion whose progeny have earned more than $87 million in stakes money.
