Impressive debut winner for Soft Falling Rain

Wilgerbosdrift’s much lamented stallion Soft Falling Rain looks to have come up with yet another smart two-year-old in the form of Florida Keys.

The latter made an eye catching, winning debut when victorious at the Vaal on Monday afternoon.

Trained by Sean Tarry, and ridden to victory by Gavin Lerena, the Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein bred Florida Keys powered home to register a half length win, when scoring over 1200m on Monday.

Monday’s winner has a full-brother (Lot 372) on offer at the upcoming National Sale.

The well bred Florida Keys is the fifth two-year-old winner this season for Soft Falling Rain, who, himself, was South Africa’s Champion 2YO Colt of 2012.

The former G1 SA Nursery winner has 18 yearlings on offer at the 2020 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale including a colt (Lot 27) out of G1 SA Fillies Classic winner Athina, a colt (Lot 114) out of Dynaformer’s stakes winning daughter Distance Done, a filly (Lot 122) out of a stakes winning daughter of Var, and a filly (Lot 448) out of Queen Palm Handicap heroine Treaj Pots.
