Flower Alley grandson impresses on debut

Wilgerbosdrift’s G1 winning sire Flower Alley continues to make waves as a broodmare sire, and he was maternal grandsire of another eye catching debut winner at Santa Anita on Friday.
Promising two-year-old Bolden fired a 47 2/5 (1/33) four-furlong bullet at Peter Miller’s San Luis Rey base May 30 and made 3-5 seem like a gift here. The chestnut rocketed out to the front through an opening quarter in :22.10 and increased his advantage throughout, delivering a 5 1/2-length decision over Eagle in the Sky in a maiden over five furlongs.

A son of Square Eddie, Bolden was produced by the dual winning Flower Alley mare Bas.

Other notable performers produced by daughters of Flower Alley include multiple G1 winner Lucky Lilac, G3 Tempted Stakes heroine Daisy and G3 Cecil B. Demille Stakes victor Smooth Like Strait.

Flower Alley, whose first South African crop yielded three starters in Saturday’s G2 Wilgerbosdrift SA Oaks, has 18 lots on offer at this year’s Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
