Just days after his son Fire Alley won the Listed Betway Algoa Cup, Wilgerbosdrift’s inform stallion Flower Alley was back in the winners enclosure when another son, Chyavana, lifted the Listed Allied Steelrode Golden Loom Handicap on Saturday.
One of three runners in the race for trainer Johan Janse Van Vuuren, six-year-old Chyavana received a superb ride from Serino Moodley in Saturday’s Turffontein 1000m sprint.
Moodley bought his mount with a powerful late, which saw Chyavana storm home down the outside of the track and get up to win going away by three-parts of a length.
Bred by Maine Chance Farms (Pty) Ltd, Chyavana has now won eight of 22 starts and has earned R775 250.
Saturday’s winner was produced by the Querari mare Cosmic Light.
Chyavana is the 38th stakes winner for Flower Alley, whose son Total Surrender won the third race run at Turffontein on Saturday.
The former G1 Travers Stakes winner is also responsible for such champions as I’ll Have Another, Princess Calla and Lukes Alley.
