Fire Away half-brother to sell at Keeneland

A half-brother to Wilgerbosdrift’s exciting new stallion Fire Away is one of more than 4600 yearlings catalogued for the 2019 Keeneland September Yearling Sale, due to get underway on September 9th this year.

Catalogued as lot 611, and consigned by Claiborne Farm, Agent, the bay colt was sired by champion and prominent sire Uncle Mo (recently responsible for his 50th individual stakes winner).

The colt is a half-brother to 4 winners, from as many runners, including G1 Belmont Derby winning sire Mr Speaker, G3 Dixie Stakes hero Fire Away and G3 Palm Beach Stakes third Snap Decision.

He is out of the Unbridled mare Salute, a daughter of unbeaten Breeders’ Cup winner and champion Personal Ensign, who was a smart performer at two when she finished second in the G2 Demoiselle Stakes and third in the G2 Tempted Stakes.

Her son Fire Away, one of more than 80 stakes winners sired by outstanding Danzig sire War Front, won or placed in 15 races, and earned over $600 000 during a career which saw him win the Dixie, Danger’s Hour and Artie Schiller Stakes.

Fire Away will stand his first season at stud this year for a fee of R25 000.
