EUROPA POINT BROTHER WINS AGAIN!

Ghalib, a half-brother to Wilgerbosdrift owned multiple G1 winner Europa Point, made it career win number four when successful at Windsor yesterday.

A son of Lope de Vega, the gelding was rousted along early and hit the front with three furlongs to run in Monday’s 1600m handicap, before drawing clear to score, unchallenged, by a length and a quarter.

Ghalib, who is from the yard of Amy Murphy, was steered to victory by jockey Richard Kingscote.

Gorband’s offspring have enjoyed good success this year, with the daughter of Woodman also responsible for two-year-old Mutakatif, who recently scored in a novice stakes at Chester.

Also responsible for unbeaten G2 Richmond Stakes winning sire Harbour Watch (by Acclamation), Gorband herself is a half-sister to French G2 winner and former South African sire Kabool.

Her second dam is legendary broodmare Fall Aspen, dam of, among others, Mauritzfontein’s late, great sire Fort Wood.

Her Rock Of Gibraltar sired daughter Europa Point was a superb athlete, whose nine wins (from 13 outings) including both the G1 Champions Challenge and G1 Empress Club Stakes.
