Wilgerbosdrift’s highly successful, and red hot, sire Flower Alley enjoyed another notable double over this past weekend.
His double commenced when the 2005 Travers Stakes winner’s flashily named daughter Icrywheni’mdrunk got off the mark at Woodbine on Friday.
Three-year-old Icrywheni’mdrunk held on gamely to score on the all weather track, over 1000m, by a nose. She is one of two winners produced by the unraced Stormy Atlantic mare Sketch Book.
Her sire’s second winner of the weekend came when his 3yo son Alleycat overcame a rough trip (the colt rallied after being three wide) to break his maiden by 1.75 lengths at Golden Gate on Sunday. Alleycat was produced by the three time winning Giant’s Causeway mare Everything Good.
Flower Alley has been represented by a number of stakes performers this year, with his top performer the record-breaking G1 Pattison Canadian International winner Bullards Alley, set to make his next appearance in the 2017 G1 Breeders’ Cup Turf.
Another smart turf galloper sired by Flower Alley is Nessy, who finished a close up second in the recent G3 Sycamore Stakes at Keeneland last week.
Flower Alley, whose previous best runners included Kentucky Derby winning champion I’ll Have Another, currently ranks above such sire legends as Dubawi, Elusive Quality, and Curlin on the US Turf Sires List.
