Wilgerbosdrift’s inform stallion Flower Alley continues to churn out above average winners and the former G1 Travers Stakes winner came up with yet another eye catching winner on Thursday.
Flower Alley’s three-year-old daughter English Primrose showed plenty of courage when she made a winning debut at the Vaal on Thursday afternoon.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, the Lucky Houdalakis trained filly attracted plenty of pre-race betting support, and English Primrose duly lived up to expectations.
Under Denis Schwarz, English Primrose fought out a tremendous duel over the closing stages with Miss Otis and Gilda Gray, before staying on gamely to record a near three-parts of a length win.
Out of the Trippi mare Queen Bess, English Primrose was a R140 000 buy from the 2020 National 2YO Sale.
English Primrose was Flower Alley’s sole runner at the Vaal on Thursday, and thus provided her G1 winning sire with a 100% strike rate for the day at the track.
The sire of more than 50 black type horses, and an increasingly successful broodmare sire, Flower Alley has a single lot on offer at this year’s CTS Ready To Run Sale.
