Peter and Jenny Blyth’s Clifton Stud has produced two beautiful foals this season, by Wilgerbosdrift’s exciting young sires Soft Falling Rain and Flower Alley respectively.
Clifton has a stunning filly foal by former Equus Champion 2YO and G2 Godolphin Mile winner Soft Falling Rain. The foal is out of the top class Var mare Esterel, whose four wins included the Listed Bauhinia Handicap over 1000m, where she accounted for G1 Computaform Sprint winner Noble Heir. By one of South Africa’s top sires (Var is already broodmare sire of G3 winner She’s A Giver), Esterel hails from the same family as former G1 Eclipse Stakes winner and G1 Epsom Derby runner up Connaught.
Flower Alley, who has been in tremendous form of late with progeny winning all over North America this past week, is the sire of a really impressive looking colt out of the mare Withstand The Wind.
The latter is a full sister to former Horse Of The Year and seven times champion sire Jet Master, whose offspring include such great champions as Pocket Power, JJ The Jet Plane, Mythical Flight and Yorker. Withstand The Wind is also a half sister to the granddam of G2 Fillies Guineas winner Festival Of Fire.
