Wilgerbosdrift’s well bred resident sire Buffalo Bill Cody looks to have come up with a top-class performer in the form of Buffalo Storm Cody. The latter, winner of last season’s G1 Mercury Sprint, made it three wins in a row when he won impressively at Turffontein on Sunday. Trained by Tony Peter, Buffalo Storm Cody was all the rage for Sunday’s Betway Pinnacle Stakes and he duly obliged. Under Gavin Lerena, the 1-4 shot hit the front 200m from home and pulled clear to win as he liked by two and a quarter lengths.
Bred by Narrow Creek Stud, the Kestorm Investments owned Buffalo Storm Cody is likely to be aimed at the 2026 G1 Computaform Sprint.
Buffalo Storm Cody, who is out of the Trippi mare Musical Romance, has won seven of 14 starts for earnings of R1 225 000. The uber consistent gelding has been out of the money just once thus far.
His sire Buffalo Bill Cody, like star South African sire Rafeef a son of Redoute’s Choice, looks on course for a bright season in 2025-2026 with his potential flagbearers including the likes of not only Buffalo Storm Cody but also the likes of One Eye On Vegas, Rachel Wall, Yippee Kayay and Rifle Queen.
