Wednesday double for Flower Alley

Wilgerbosdrift’s resident stallion Flower Alley has had a wonderful few days, and the son of Distorted Humor struck again when supplying two eye catching winners at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Wednesday.

His newly turned three-year-old daughter Woodland Glade justified favouritism when she romped home to claim the second race at Greyville in scintillating fashion. Under JP Van Der Merwe, the Mike de Kock trained filly turned Wednesday’s tabGold Score 6 Maiden Plate (F&M) (1700m) into a one horse race, with Woodland Glade pulling clear to break her maiden by nearly four and a quarter lengths.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Woodland Glade is out of the Fort Wood mare Gain Ground.

Flower Alley struck again in the very next race, when his daughter English Primrose won the www.tabgold.co.za MR 64 Handicap for Wayne Badenhorst and Muzi Yeni. The Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein bred five-year-old dug down deep to best runner up Pascali and win the 1700m contest by a neck.

Out of the Trippi mare Queen Bess, English Primrose has now won three times.
Flower Alley had a memorable day at Greyville on Sunday when his outstanding daughter Princess Calla won the G1 The HKJC Champions Cup and another daughter, Gilded Butterfly, ran third in the same day’s G2 Riding High Together Gold Bracelet.

The former Travers Stakes winner, and sire of Kentucky Derby winning champion I’ll Have Another, has four lots on sale at the 2023 August Two Year Old Sale.
