THIRD WINNER FOR FIRE AWAY

Wilgerbosdrift’s well bred young stallion Fire Away has made a flying start to his stud career and the son of War Front came up with a third first crop winner when his son Except Temptation made a winning debut at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Tuesday.

Trained by Peter Muscutt, two-year-old Except Temptation raced just off the early speed in the early part of Tuesday’s Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Welcomes You Maiden Juvenile Plate over 1200 metres.

Under Aldo Domeyer, Except Temptation hit the front 100m from home and stayed on gamely to make a winning debut by a head.
Tuesday’s winner was a R260 000 buy from the 2021 Cape Yearling Sale.
Bred by Drakenstein Stud, Except Temptation is out of the Philanthropist mare Looking At Stars.

The colt, described by his connections as a “very nice horse in the making”, joins the likes of Fire ‘N Flames and Luna Halo as early winners for promising young stallion Fire Away.

The latter’s speedy start to his stud career is most encouraging especially when taking into account that Fire Away himself never won at two.

Fire Away, now established as one of the most exciting young sires around, has six lots on offer at this month’s Cape Yearling Sale including a half-sister (Lot 103) to promising filly Silverlinks.
