SOFT FALLING RAIN TOPS CAPE SALE!

Wilgerbosdrift’s exciting young stallion Soft Falling Rain’s first crop of yearlings have really caught the eye this year, and the former Equus Champion once again proved popular at Sunday’s Cape Yearling Sale, which took place at the Mistico Equestrian Centre.

His son Tree Of Wisdom topped the one day sale, while another Soft Falling Rain colt, Hardfallingrain, was the joint third top lot sold.

Tree Of Wisdom , consigned by Wilgerbosdrift, was knocked down to Bass Racing for R200 000 while his paternal half-brother, consigned by the Narrow Creek Stud, fetched a bid of R160 000 from trainer Glen Kotzen.

The sales topping Tree Of Wisdom, a half-brother to 3 winners, is out of the three time winning Western Winter mare Minerva, and he hails from the same family as recent Zabeel Mile winner Janoobi.

Soft Falling Rain ended the Cape Sale as the Leading First Crop Sire by aggregate, with his three lots to sell grossing R385 000.

Remarkably, it is the second time in two sales that Soft Falling Rain has topped the Leading First Crop Sires List.

The son of National Assembly was also Leading First Crop Sire (by Aggregate and Average) at the 2018 Cape Premier Yearling Sale earlier in the year, where his seven lots grossed R4 000 000.

An unbeaten champion at two, Soft Falling Rain won major feature races in three different countries, with his victories including the G2 Nayef Joel Stakes, G2 Godolphin Mile and G3 UAE 2000 Guineas.
