Soft Falling Rain gelding maintains his unbeaten record

Wilgerbosdrift’s much missed resident sire Soft Falling Rain looks to have come up with a potentially top class performer in his first crop in the form of Al Jahbath.
The latter   made it two wins from as many starts when he romped home to a clear cut 5.75 length win in a juvenile plate over 1100m at the Vaal on Thursday afternoon.
(In recording his second win from as many starts, Al Jahbath accounted for a smart field, with his beaten opponents including G3 Strelitzia Stakes winner Singforafa.)

Ridden on Thursday by Randall Simons, the Shadwell Stud bred Al Jahbath, like Soft Falling Rain, is trained by Mike de Kock for Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid al Maktoum.

Previously, Al Jahbath had made a winning debut when scoring first time out over 1000m at the Vaal.

Out of the Var mare Varachino, the gelded Al Jahbath holds an entry for the G2 Durban Golden Horseshoe, which will be run at Greyville on Vodacom Durban July day.

The unbeaten two-year-old is one of nine winners, thus far, produced in Soft Falling Rain’s first crop, with others including G3 Pretty Polly Stakes runner up Gin Fizz and Gatecrasher Stakes second Alramz.

South Africa’s Champion 2YO Colt of 2012, former G1 SA Nursery winner Soft Falling Rain has two well related colts on offer at the 2019 KZN Yearling Sale next month.
