Soft Falling Rain filly wins again

Wilgerbosdrift’s much missed sire Soft Falling Rain has been having a great run with his first two-year-olds this season, and the former Equus Champion and G1 SA Nursery winner was back in the news following his daughter Montreal Mist’s courageous win at Greyville on Saturday.

Bred by the Clifton Stud, and trained by Sean Tarry, Montreal Mist made it win number two, from only six starts, when fighting back gamely under jockey Gavin Lerena to score a head win in the R200 000 Piemonte Stud Kwazulu-Natal Breeders Fillies Juvenile Plate over 1200 metres.

The consistent Montreal Mist, who is inbred to Storm Cat, has now won or placed in five of only six starts.

She is one of 11 first crop two-year-old winners for Soft Falling Rain, whose son Aqua Delta lines up in Saturday’s G2 Durban Golden Horseshoe and whose daughter Mawsool is a runner in the same day’s G2 Zulu Explorer Golden Slipper.

Soft Falling Rain has two colts on offer at this week’s KZN Yearling Sale.
