SIXTH WIN FOR FLOWER ALLEY DAUGHTER

Wilgerbosdrift’s exciting resident sire Flower Alley has been responsible for a flood of winners this year and his daughter Beach Flower added to his total when she romped to a facile five and a quarter length win at Canterbury Park on Wednesday.

Trained by McLean Robertson and ridden to victory by Dean Butler, Beach Flower was scoring for a sixth time when she won over a mile on Wednesday.

Beach Flower, who has now won or placed in 18 races, was produced by the Harlan’s Holiday mare Hogan Beach.

Her G1 Travers Stakes winning sire Flower Alley is best known as the sire of US champion and 2012 Kentucky Derby/Preakness Stakes winner I’ll Have Another.

Other notable progeny sired by Flower Alley include champion Lukes Alley, G1 Ashland Stakes vixen Lilacs And Lace (dam of Japanese G1 winner Lucky Lilac), short-lived G1 Pattison Canadian International hero Bullards Alley, US millionaire Neck ‘N Neck, and 2018 San Juan Capistrano winner Nessy.

Flower Alley, who is from the same family as breed shaping champion sire Lyphard, will be represented by 12 lots at next week’s National Two Year Old Sale, including a colt out of Queen Palm Handicap winner Treaj Pots (Lot 101), a half-sister to BSA August Million winner Broadway Trip (Lot 145) and a colt out of G1 winner Athina (Lot 159).
