Wilgerbosdrift’s deceased stallion Soft Falling Rain came up with yet another eye catching debut winner when his two-year-old son Hope Is Power won first time out at the Vaal on Tuesday afternoon.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, the gelded Hope Is Power was always up with the pace in the Guineas Day 6 February Maiden Juvenile Plate (1000m).
Under Jason Gates, the Clinton Binda trained gelding powered home in the closing stages to win going away by three and three quarter lengths.
Out of the Kahal mare Sarasota, Hope Is Power was a R360 000 buy from the 2020 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
He is the fourth two-year-old winner, from six runners in South Africa this season for former Equus Champion, and G1 SA Nursery winner, Soft Falling Rain, with the latter currently second on South Africa’s Leading Sires of 2YOs list.
