Four winners in two days for Soft Falling Rain

Wilgerbosdrift’s deceased sire Soft Falling Rain had a fine trot of things this week, and was responsible for a quartet of winners over the past two days, with his offspring winning a pair of races at the Vaal on Thursday and another two races on Friday at Fairview.

Soft Falling Rain’s four winners were headed by his talented son Marmara Sea landing Friday’s November Stakes (Non-Black Type) at Fairview on Friday. In the process, that Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein bred gelding made it seven wins from as many starts since relocating to the Eastern Cape.
Now unbeaten on the polytrack, the Alan Greeff trained Marmara Sea dug down deep in a thrilling finish to land the 2020 November Stakes (1400m) by a short head, under a well timed ride from Greg Cheyne.

He provided his G1 SA Nursery winning sire with a second winner on Friday’s card, with Soft Falling Rain’s gelded son Aqua Delta romping home to a three and a quarter length win in Friday’s fourth race over 1200m.
Bred by the Cheveley Stud, the Duncan McKenzie trained gelding took his tally of wins to two with his decisive win on Friday.

The ill-fated Soft Falling Rain had previously had a quick double at the Vaal one day earlier when his son Stormy Winter won the sixth race and daughter Princess Nicole landed the eighth race respectively.

South Africa’s Champion 2YO Colt of 2011-2012, Soft Falling Rain has a single lot on offer at the upcoming CTS Ready To Run, Unbroken 2 Year Old & Mixed Sale.
