Founders Trophy win for Flower Alley

Wilgerbosdrift’s inform sire Flower Alley, whose two-year-old daughter Southern Charm made such an impressive debut on Thursday, was again to the fore in South Africa on Friday.
This time it was Flower Alley’s son Rock Aloe who was in the news, with that Wynand Nel bred three-year-old scoring a convincing win in the Founders Trophy (Non Black-Type) on Friday.

Runner up in the World Sports Betting East Cape Derby on his previous start, the Alan Greeff trained gelding stayed on nicely to post a three-parts of a length win in Friday’s 1600m race.

Rock Aloe, who was ridden to victory by Luyolo Mxothwa, has now won four of just eight starts with the gelding having won three of his first four starts.

Out of the Elliodor mare Art Of Africa, Rock Aloe was a R100 000 buy from the 2018 National 2YO Sale.

His G1 Travers Stakes winning sire is currently responsibly for nearly 50 black type horses, including champions I’ll Have Another and Lukes Alley.
