Flower Alley granddaughter named champion in Japan

WIlgerbosdrift’s high class stallion Flower Alley is broodmare sire of 2017 Japanese champion Lucky Lilac. The latter was named Japan’s Champion 2YO Filly on Tuesday, following an unbeaten first season.

Lucky Lilac (from the first crop of Triple Crown winner Orfevre) won all three of her outings in 2017, including the G1 Hanshin Juvenile Fillies and G3 Artemis Stakes.

The champion was produced by Flower Alley’s G1 Ashland Stakes winning daughter Lilacs And Lace, who also captured the California Oaks.

Flower Alley, whose sire Distorted Humor was Champion Broodmare Sire in the USA for 2017, is an increasingly successful broodmare sire and is also damsire of 2017 G3 Tempted Stakes winner Daisy (Blame), a winner of two of only three starts.

The sire of brilliant 2017 G1 Pattison Canadian International Stakes winner Bullards Alley, Flower Alley has six members of his first South African crop on the 2018 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
