Flower Alley filly makes it two out of three

Wilgerbosdrift’s G1 winning sire Flower Alley looks to have potentially another smart runner in his first South African crop in the form of Christmas Flower.
The latter made two wins in a row, and two wins from just three starts, when scoring a one length win over 1600m at the Vaal racecourse on Tuesday afternoon.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, the three-year-old is trained by Alec Laird and she was ridden to victory by S’Manga Khumalo.

Her G1 Travers Stakes winning sire Flower Alley, whose international stars are headed by G1 Kentucky Derby winning champion I’ll Have Another, has made a bright start to his stud career in South Africa.

Christmas Flower is one of 18 winners thus far to have emerged from Flower Alley’s first local crop, which has also produced the unbeaten Alibi Guy, G3 The Citizen Fillies Mile second and third Keep Smiling and Marygold, debut winner Prince Evlanoff and the stakes placed Parterre.

Flower Alley has five lots on offer at January’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale including a half-sister (Lot 78) to G2 Fillies Guineas winner Alexis, and a colt (Lot 170) out of a G2 winning daughter of Querari.
