Flower Alley filly lifts East Cape Paddock Stakes

Wilgerbosdrift’s G1 Travers Stakes winning stallion Flower Alley has some very smart three-year-olds representing him this season.

Flower Alley’s sophomores include the very exciting filly Santa Therese, who made it six wins from just eight starts when victorious in Friday’s Listed East Cape Paddock Stakes (1600m) run at Fairview.
Under Grant Van Niekerk, the Alan Greeff trained filly hit the front 200m from home and drew off, under a hands and heels ride, to win as she liked by an emphatic three and a quarter lengths.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Santa Therese was making it five wins on the bounce, with the filly’s previous triumphs including a score in the Listed Breeders Guineas.

Out of the Tiger Ridge mare Santa Clarita, Santa Therese was a R160 000 buy from the 2019 National Yearling Sale.

She joins the likes of G2 Western Cape Fillies Championship/G3 Umzimkhulu Stakes winner Princess Calla and G3 World Sports Betting Variety Club Mile runner up Firealley as talented three-year-olds for Flower Alley this season.
