Wilgerbosdrift’s well bred young stallion Fire Away has made a promising start to his stud career, if results from Sunday’s Cape Yearling Sale are anything to go by!
The son of War Front ended Sunday’s one day sale as Leading First Crop Sire by Aggregate, with Fire Away’s eight lots on offer all selling for a gross total of R1 470 000, and his yearlings ended up averaging R183 750.
Fire Away’s top lot sold off Sunday’s auction was Five Bob (Lot 127), a Wilgerbosdrift consigned colt who was knocked down to the Hollywood Syndicate for R400 000. The colt in question is a half-brother to the useful Euro Cent, with his dam being the twice winning Shamardal matron Centimes.
The son of War Front was a tough and durable racehorse, with Fire Away’s seven lifetime wins headed by a score in the G3 Dixie Stakes.
Fire Away also showed high-class form when running third to champion, and G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile winner, World Approval, in the 2018 G3 Tampa Bay Stakes.
A grandson of legendary champion and broodmare Personal Ensign, Fire Away has an exceptional draft of yearlings entered for the upcoming National Yearling Sale.
