Wilgerbosdrift’s promising young sire Fire Away looks to have a very smart prospect on his hands in the form of My Best Shot.
The latter made it four wins from his last five starts when he captured the Sophomore Plate (1400m) at Fairview on Friday in style.
Under Richard Fourie, the Alan Greeff trained three-year-old romped home to land Friday’s race by two and a quarter lengths.
Bred by Varsfontein Stud, the recently gelded My Best Shot has won six of 12 starts, with the son of Fire Away victorious in the Guineas Plate on his penultimate start.
My Best Shot, who is out of the Fort Wood mare Gypsy Madonna, was a R120 000 buy from the 2023 Cape Yearling Sale.
His sire Fire Away is also responsible for high-class three-year-old, and G2 TAB SA Nursery winner, Fire Attack, who ran second in the recent G3 Betway Got The Greenlight Stakes.
A son of War Front, Fire Away has five lots on offer at the Cape Yearling Sale.
