Egoli Mile success for Soft Falling Rain

Wilgerbosdrift’s deceased sire Soft Falling Rain had a notable winner on Saturday when his three-year-old son Stone Cold won the Egoli Mile (Non-Black Type) on the Turffontein Standside course.
Under Muzi Yeni, the Candice Dawson trained Stone Cold had finished second in his past two starts but went one better in Saturday’s R95 000 feature for three-year-olds.

Bred by Moutonshoek, Stone Cold defied stamina doubts when powering home to score a half length win, at the expense of the Argentine bred favouruite Puerto Manzano.

Now a two time winner, from seven starts, Stone Cold was a R200 000 buy from the 2019 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.

The 2021 Egoli Mile winner is out of the Orpen mare She’s So Cold.

His globetrotting, G1 SA Nursery winning sire Soft Falling Rain has enjoyed notable success with his first two crops thus far.

Soft Falling Rain’s first crop is headed by reigning Eastern Cape Horse Of The Year World Radar, and fellow graded stakes winner Montreal Mist, with his second crop including not only Stone Cold but also G1 Golden Horse Medallion runner up Pray For Rain.
