Eclipse Award for Buffalo Bill Cody relative

Wilgerbosdrift’s blue blooded Redoute’s Choice horse Buffalo Bill Cody received a further boost to his stellar pedigree page when his relative Improbable was named North America’s Champion Older Dirt Male at the virtual Eclipse Awards ceremony held on Thursday.

Now retired, Improbable (by City Zip) reeled off three consecutive G1 wins in 2020, winning all of the G1 Hollywood Gold Cup, G1 Whitney S, and G1Awesome Again S last year, and ended his career with runner up effort, to Horse Of The Year Authentic, in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic.
Improbable was retired to WinStar with more than $2.7 million in earnings from a 15-7-4-0 record, with the flashy chestnut also victorious in the G1 Los Alamitos Futurity at two, and running second in the G1 Arkansas Derby at three.

Improbable’s fifth dam, the My Babu matron Luiana, also ranks the fourth dam of Wilgerbosdrift’s young sire Buffalo Bill Cody.

The latter, who shares his multiple champion sire with reigning Australian champion sire Snitzel, won six of just ten starts, with Buffalo Bill Cody winning from 1160m to 1600m.
