Debut winner for Flower Alley

Wilgerbosdrift’s G1 winning stallion Flower Alley is no stranger to siring high-class fillies, and the son of Distorted Humor was responsible for a filly making a winning debut on Wednesday.

The MJ Odendaal trained Gardenia, a four-year-old daughter of Flower Alley, made a striking impression when she romped home at the first time of asking at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Wednesday afternoon.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Gardenia made a mockery of her 33-1 starting price by running out a clear-cut, 3.4 length winner over 1400m to land Wednesday’s race impressively.

Gardenia, who was ridden to victory by Nicholas Patel, was produced by the Fort Wood mare Loupe.

Her Travers Stakes winning sire is already responsible for a number of top-class fillies and mares including G1 Ashland Stakes winner Lilacs And Lace, champion My Wandy’s Girl, graded stakes winner Bouquet Booth, and this season’s very promising three-year-old Princess Calla.

Also responsible for Kentucky Derby winning champion I’ll Have Another, Flower Alley has 13 lots on the upcoming Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale, and a single lot on the 2020 CTS Ready To Run, Unbroken 2 Year Old & Mixed Sale.
