CURLIN STAKES WIN FOR FIRE AWAY RELATIVE

Wilgerbosdrift’s blue blooded stallion Fire Away received a handsome boost to his pedigree page when his close relative Dynamic One won the Listed Curlin Stakes at Saratoga on Friday.

A three-year-old colt by Union Rags, Dynamic One took a big step forward and stamped himself as a major contender for the $1.25 million Runhappy Travers Stakes (G1) by returning from a 13-week layoff and recording a 1 3/4-length victory over Miles D in the 1 1/8-mile restricted stakes for 3-year-olds.
“I think he’s a colt that had a lot of talent early on but was still putting it all together,” trainer Todd Pletcher said.
Runner up in the G2 Wood Memorial Stakes Presented By Resorts World Casino, earlier in the year, Dynamic One has now won twice from seven starts.

The 2021 Curlin Stakes winner is out of the Smart Strike mare Beat The Drums, whose third dam is unbeaten champion, and North America’s Broodmare Of The Year in 1996, Personal Ensign.

The latter also features as the granddam of G3 Dixie Stakes winner Fire Away -whose first yearlings go on sale in 2022.
