Wilgerbosdrift’s regally related mare Europa Point is a half-sister to Elerfaan (by Shamardal), who made won at the second time of asking at Beverley racecourse on Wednesday.
The four-year-old gelding, second on debut, romped home to land a novice stakes over seven and a half furlongs by four lengths in good style.
Elerfaan and multiple G1 winner Europa Point (by Rock Of Gibraltar) were produced by the Woodman mare Gorband.
Dam of six winners to date, including unbeaten G2 Richmond Stakes winning sire Harbour Watch, Gorband is a half-sister to G2 Prix Guillaume D’Ornano winner and sire Kabool (damsire of 2018 G1 Tsogo Sun Sprint winner Bold Respect).
A three parts sister to the Woodman sired champion Timber Country, Gorband’s second dam is the G1 winner, and Broodmare Of The Year Fall Aspen. The latter produced four G1 winners –including champion South African sire and broodmare sire Fort Wood.
Europa Point, dam of the winning La Linea (by Fort Wood son Dynasty), was among the best fillies of her generation, winning nine of 13 outings headed by the G1 Champions Challenge and G1 Horse Chestnut Stakes.
