Breeders Guineas success for Flower Alley

Wilgerbosdrift’s G1 Travers Stakes winning sire Flower Alley came up with his 27th stakes winner when his progressive three-year-old daughter Santa Therese won the Listed Breeders Guineas (1600m) at Fairview on Friday.

Trained by Alan Greeff, Santa Therese had captured the Breeders Guineas Plate last time out and was duly sent off a well backed 17-10 shot for Friday’s Listed feature for 3yo fillies.

Under Greg Cheyne, Santa Therese was always travelling strongly, and kicked away in the closing stages to score her maiden black type victory by a length and a quarter.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Santa Therese has now won four of just six starts and looks another smart filly for Flower Alley.

The latter’s current crop of three-year-olds also include a pair of high-class fillies in the form of G2 Western Cape Fillies Championship winner Princess Calla and Listed Kudex Perfect Promise Sprint runner up Lemon Delight.

The sire of 50 black type horses the world over, including Kentucky Derby winning champion I’ll Have Another and G1 Ashland Stakes victress Lilacs And Lace, Flower Alley has two lots on the upcoming Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
