Big weekend for Alley

Wilgerbosdrift’s successful sire Flower Alley enjoyed a great run of success with his runners in North America this weekend when the G1 Travers Stakes winner was represented by a trio winners in the US over the past weekend, including feature race winner Beach Flower.

The latter became her sire’s 19th individual stakes winner when she won the Minnesota H. B. P. A. Distaff Stakes on Saturday.

In landing the 1600m feature, the four-year-old Beach Flower made it win number four and joined the likes of Lilacs And Lace, Bouquet Booth and My Wandy’s Girl as high-class stakes winning daughters of Flower Alley. Another daughter of the sire, Autumn Flower, ran third in the G1 Santa Margarita Stakes earlier this year.

Flower Alley’s son Flowers For Lisa made it win number six when he scored a dominant 6.75 length win at Monmouth Park over 1670m on Saturday. Bred by Ken and Sarah Ramsey, the four-year-old gelding has now won or placed in no fewer than 18 of his career outings.

Another Flower Alley to salute this past weekend was his daughter Petal Path, who broke her maiden over 1200m at Arlington on Saturday.

Himself an outstanding racehorse who banked in excess of $2 million in prize money, Flower Alley will be represented by his first South African yearlings in 2018.
