The Wilgerbosdrift based champion Alboran Sea gained a welcome boost to her pedigree page when her half-sister Iskander got off the mark at Gosford on Wednesday.
Trained by Chris Waller for owner Katsumi Yoshida, two-year-old Iskander did well to lead all the way and score a 0.3 of a length win over 1200 metres.

Iskander, a $500 000 buy from the 2018 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, had been fourth at her first official start.

She is the seventh winner for her dam Lady’s Light- an unraced half-sister to the dam of US champion Answer Lively, whose victories included the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile of 1998.

Lady’s Light, also dam of the stakes placed runners Light Express and Trafalgar Legacy, is best known as the dam of outstanding racemare Alboran Sea –South Africa’s Equus Champion 3YO Filly of 2014-2015.

The champion won or placed in nine of ten outings, with her victories including the G1 Allan Robertson Fillies Championship, G1 Cape Flying Championship and G1 Computaform Sprint. Among the horses she accounted for were multiple G1 winner Carry On Alice, champion sprinter Captain Of All and the G1 winners Normanz, Pine Princess and Willow Magic.
