Wilgerbosdrift’s inform stallion Fire Away enjoyed feature race success at Turffontein on Tuesday.
Fire Away colt Fire Attack showed his class when running out a convincing winner of Tuesday’s G2 TAB Colorado King Stakes (2000m).
In the process, the chestnut made it graded win number four of his career. Fire Attack’s previous graded wins came in the 2024 G2 TAB SA Nursery, 2025 G1 HKJC World Pool Premier’s Champions Challenge and 2026 G3 Betway London News Stakes.
Under a well timed ride from Richard Fourie, the Alec Laird trained four-year-old powered home down the inside of the track and stayed on to win nicely by a neck.
Bred by Ndoro Stud, Fire Attack races for Gary Basel, Grant Cornwall, Lance Clark & Canine Solutions CC.
Out of the Mambo In Seattle mare Bonnie Beers, Fire Attack has won five of 20 starts.
The Fire Away colt was a R450 000 buy from the 2023 National Yearling Sale.
His sire is also responsible for promising two-year-old Fire Chief, who recently made a winning debut at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
