Smart debut winner for Soft Falling Rain

Wilgerbosdrift’s deceased resident stallion Soft Falling Rain supplied an eye catching debut winner at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday.
His gelded two-year-old son Edgartown defied greeness in the running to make all and win a maiden juvenile plate over 1000m.

Trained by Michael Miller, the Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein bred Edgartown was sent off a well backed 2-1 shot, and duly obliged by half a length in Sunday’s contest, under a front running ride from Ashton Arries.

Out of the Fort Wood mare Mrs Brock, Edgartown was a R360 000 buy from the 2020 Cape Yearling Sale.

His G1 SA Nursery winning sire Soft Falling Rain has had just four two-year-old runners this season, but his tally includes impressive winner, and Saturday’s Listed Summer Juvenile Stakes contender, African Rain, as well as the aforementioned Edgartown.

The globetrotting Equus Champion has a single lot on the 2021 Cape Yearling Sale.
