Fire Away filly wins on debut

Wilgerbosdrift’s inform stallion Fire Away came up with another smart looking debut winner at Turffontein on Saturday.
His three-year-old daughter Shivering Light made the perfect start to her career when she won the Ross Robertson Maiden Plate (1160m).

Under Chase Maujean, the Tony Peter trained filly ran on strongly in the closing stages to best runner up Onceinablumoon convincingly by just over a length.

Bred by Narrow Creek Stud, Shivering Light races for Messrs Brian Peerimal, Marc Peter, K Pillay & Mrs M N Pillay.

A R260 000 buy from the 2024 August Two Year Old Sale, Shivering Light, who is bred on the same Fire Away/High Chaparral cross as millionaire Military Command, is out of the High Chaparral mare Sassy Sal.

Her G3 Dixie Stakes winning sire Fire Away had also enjoyed success at Fairview the day before when Fire Away gelding Lanciafiamme picked up the fifth win of his career.

Fire Away, whose progeny also include recent G3 Betway London News Stakes winner Fire Attack, has ten lots on the Cape Yearling Sale, and nine lots on at the Premier Yearling Sale.
