Wilgerbosdrift’s promising sire Buffalo Bill Cody made headlines on Wednesday.
Buffalo Bill Cody colt Yippee Kiyay made a good start to his career when he won at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on debut.
Trained by Mathew and Mike De Kock, Yippee Kiyay was sent off a 15-10 shot for Wednesday’s Online Form Guide www.gallop.co.za Maiden Plate (1200m) and duly obliged.
Under a strong ride from Muzi Yeni, the two-year-old appeared beaten close home but showed courage to fight back and win on debut by half a length.
Bred by Narrow Creek Stud, Yippee Kiyay is out of the Silvano mare Miss Magical.
The son of Buffalo Bill Cody was a R700 000 buy from the 2024 National Yearling Sale.
Buffalo Bill Cody, currently South Africa’s second Leading Second Season Sire, made a pleasing start to his stud career with his small first crop including G3 Betway Lebelo Sprint winner Pistol Pete, Model Man Mile queen Artist’s Model, and recent Mythical Flight hero Buffalo Storm Cody.
