Somerset 1200 success for Buffalo Bill Cody

Wilgerbosdrift’s exciting sire Buffalo Bill Cody looks to have another smart sort on his hands in the form of Catwalk King.
The latter became his sire’s latest stakes winner when he won the Listed Somerset 1200 (1200m) at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Sunday.

Trained by Glen Kotzen, Catwalk King caught the eye on Sunday, with the Buffalo Bill Cody coming from well off the pace to get up and win by a length.
It was a fine effort from Catwalk King, with connections fearing the gelding would need the run.
Sunday’s winner is likely to run next in the Langerman.

Winning jockey Keagan De Melo said after the race that Catwalk King had improved from gelding and that he had given him the feeling of a smart horse.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Catwalk King is out of the High Chaparral mare Strut Your Stuff.
The gelding, who has won two of six starts, is owned by the Wernars Family and Mukund Gujadhur.

Catwalk King was a R200 000 buy from the 2025 Cape Yearling Sale.

His sire Buffalo Bill Cody (who shares his sire Redoute’s Choice with star local sire Rafeef) has come up with black type horses in each of his first three crops.
Buffalo Bill Cody, who has two lots on offer at the KZN Yearling Sale, is also the sire of this season’s G1 TAB Computaform Sprint winner Buffalo Storm Cody and this season’s Listed Ibhayi Stakes hero Buffalo Bill.
